The horizon series

Gr. Horos, a limit. Horizon, bounding.

The limit of one's experience or apprehension. (Chambers)

The pictures don't really make sense as an entirety. There is a tonal ambiance contained within horizontal bands, but it does not add up to a specific image. It is like looking at a page of print : we have to read the words along the lines to understand what is written. As a whole, it makes no sense.

Curiously, our ingestion of the image is divided. We can take in a foreground bands or the background bands, but both at once is virtually impossible. We must look inside the bounderies to see what is there. We are at once part of the environment and yet separated from it.
